Lyneham is a small town west of London, located between Bristol and Swindon. A popular area for hunting and wild life trips. The main attraction in Lyneham is the RAF base for the C-130’s. 30-40 planes are based there.

You will need to get an PPR from Station Operation Center. Give them a early call, and have all information ready. Your PPR will not be granted until they got the information they need. (Passport, copy of AOC, incuranse etc) They are wery friendly and helpfull. It may be a idea to give them a call, if you don`t get an reply on your e-mail.

If its your first flight to Lyneham, maybe a ferry flight from another airport nearby. Be well prepared, as always. Some times when flying in this area, to minor airports like Oxford and Lyneham, you can some times unexpected be “left on your own”, with traffic information only. I have experienced this a couple of times, when first contact with radar, after receiving the expected IFR clearance on ground, you will not be cleared to enter controlled airspace. If you got this in mind, you will be familiar with the procedures you can expect, so you can keep an eye out! This is a normal way to do it in many places i UK.

Recommend booking their home page. Staff is service minded, and hotels room are ok! Breakfast is not that good, but they do have a restaurant where you can buy some sandwiches, and some other food. Fares is aroud £56-£70. Taxi can bring you from RAF Lyneham to the hotel for £14-£16.
